New GOBI newsletter out now!

A bumper edition of the GOBI newsletter is out!

In it there are articles on:

  • how seabird tracking data have, for the first time ever, been instrumental in the designation of a marine protected area on the high seas
  • how the process of designation of Important Marine Mammal Areas continues apace, overcoming the restrictions imposed by the pandemic
  • how communities of experts in marine turtles, sharks and rays are coordinating their efforts to establish processes for the establishment of Important Marine Turtle Areas and Important Shark and Ray Areas
  • GOBI’s contribution to ongoing international conservation processes and negotiations, including the CBD’s COP15 and associated preparatory meetings, influencing the development of the Post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework, and presence at the Climate Change COP26, amongst others

Plus many more contributions form GOBI partners forging ahead to support local, regional and international efforts to deliver effective marine biodiversity conservation through the provision of data, knowledge and expertise.
